The Savoy
Resort of Madeira consists of
two luxury properties, the
classic Hotel Savoy and
contemporary Royal Savoy,
located a “stone’s throw”
from the bustling harbour, in
the heart of Funchal’s
illustrious restaurant quarter.
The former is the
‘Grande Dame’ of the pair,
a traditional family-owned
hotel (offering 337 rooms and
suites) that has remained a
well-loved part of Funchal
life for nearly a century. The
Hotel Savoy’s more modern
younger sister, The Royal
Savoy, opened in February 2002
and offers 162 ocean-view
rooms including single-room
studios with kitchenettes, one
and two bedroom suites with
dining rooms and spectacular
Penthouses. The resort
occupies a total area of over
45,000 square metres,
including a large section of
land reclaimed from the
Atlantic
Ocean
to create
an extensive area of
sub-tropical lush gardens,
fountains and swimming pools.
The
Savoy Resort now offers two
Spas, which are both certain
to leave guests with a sense
of peace and tranquillity to
match the serenity of the
aquamarine sea which encircles
the
island
of
Madeira
.
The original spa, The
Garden Health Spa at the Hotel
Savoy, which opened in 1999
has recently been joined by
the Health Suite at the Royal
Savoy.
Spa
treatments are becoming
synonymous with the 21st
century, as they are no longer
regarded as the preserve of
the rich and famous, but as an
integral part of life for
individuals searching for
inner serenity.
Whilst women have
progressively enjoyed the
benefits of pampering
themselves, it is only
recently that men have jumped
on the wagon and started to
treat themselves to sumptuous
spa treatments and balmy body
scrubs to soothe away the
stresses and strains that are
symptoms of modern day living,
as found by a survey conducted
by The Savoy Resort.
Both the Garden Health
Spa and the Health Suite have
embraced this trend,
encouraging men to use the
facilities and launching
special treatments within the
spa menu designed especially
for men to convert even the
most beauty shy.
One such treatment is
the Spa Phytomer Homme, which
includes a massage followed by
the application of the
wonderful sensation of thermal
mud and an oxygenating face
treatment.
To further coax the
unconvinced male the massage
rooms have two treatment
tables, allowing couples to
enjoy simultaneous spa therapy.
Utilising
the internationally adored
Phytomer products, which
contain 100% natural marine
products, both spas imbibe an
aura of calm to their guests,
providing the perfect antidote
to the often stress-filled
environment of modern life. In
response to visitors’
therapeutic needs, guests can
enjoy a great number of
beautiful spa treatments, all
designed to combat tension and
promote well-being. Guests can
choose from the Spa Phytomer
Prestige package which
includes the application of
thermal mud and moisturising
facial treatment, or the
best-selling aromatherapy body
treatment, or the Spa Phytomer
Detox during which guests are
wrapped in freeze-dried
seaweed and which is followed
by a relaxing moisturising
massage.
