From
the hotel Jardins do Lago to
the centre of Funchal and the marina about 1,5 km (courtesey bus twice a day except Saturday and Sunday)
Airport: Funchal, 23 km approx.
The “Quinta da Achada” was built in the middle of the 18th Century. In early 19th Century it was bought by the britsh Wine Dealer William Penfold and for a long time a center of social life in Madeira. This builing was restored carefully in1999/2000 and there was added a new wing. The traditional architecture of the old Quinta has been conserved and the existing antique decoration has been intergrated
tastefully.
2,5 ha subtropical gardens with a lake (home of a Galapagos turtle) and with some very old and rare trees and exotic plants surround the Quinta.
With only 40 rooms, the “gardens at the sea” (the literal translation of the name of the hotel) offer a nearly privat atmosphere.
Estalagem
Jardins do Lago
Hotel is recommended as a good alternative to the big luxurious hotels in the centre of Funchal.
